Miryem-Khaye’s bold performance style combines cultural and musical acumen to present finely nuanced interpretations of older as well as original Yiddish songs. She is a contemporary and yet heymish voice who defies the stereotype of Yiddish as merely sentimental, thrilling audiences with new songs like her paean to Yiddish “Americanisher Tango”, and “Gikher, Shvester!” a dynamic celebration of women in the Yiddish tradition.

As a fluent Yiddish speaker and Yiddish cultural worker, Miryem-Khaye brings an intimate daily understanding to the texts she interprets. In addition to performing and writing Yiddish music, her cultural work in the New York Yiddish arena includes producing musical and cultural events, publishing scholarly Yiddish work, translating, teaching, acting, and archiving and cataloging Yiddish literature and music.

Miryem-Khaye is a graduate of Hampshire College and a three-time participant in the YIVO summer Yiddish program. Her writing has been published in Yugntruf zhurnal, Zumer in nyu york, Yedies fun yivo, Naye vegn, and Bridges: A Journal for Jewish Feminists and Our Friends.
